Student VISA requirements for South Korea

Visa requirement and eligibility for South Korea depends upon which university you choose to study at. Study visas for Nepalese students can be categorized into two. One is a D-2 Visa and another is a D-4 Visa. 

Some universities require a D-2 Visa and some require a D-4 visa. These Visas can be for 6 months or 1 year depending upon the University you apply to. You must extend the visa either every 6 months or 1 year till you finish your study in South Korea.  

A D-4 Visa is basically a language visa. With a D-4 visa, you can learn Korean in South Korea. It is essential to be fluent in the Korean language in South Korea before you enter the university. So, in case you didn’t take a Korean language class in Nepal, you must take a language class in Korea. After you pass your language test and acquire a good result in the test, you will be given a D-2 visa. 

With a D-4 Visa, you can neither study your major course in the university nor can you work in South Korea. To be eligible to study in the university and work in South Korea, Nepalese students must acquire a D-2 Visa. To acquire the D-2 Visa, you must have done IELTS in Nepal. 

Though you can convert your D-4 visa to D-2 visa after completing a Korean language class in South Korea, it will be expensive compared to going on a direct D-2 visa. 

You have to submit all the official and necessary documents as requirements to prepare a visa and be accepted by the university. 

Eligibility to apply for South Korea University: 

If you are applying for the Bachelor's program in South Korea, you must acquire a minimum second division in +2 level in any field. Similarly, you should have passed the Bachelor level to be eligible to apply for the Masters's program.  

To be eligible to apply to South Korea for abroad study, you must submit the following documents to Korean Embassy : 

      1. Valid passport 

      2. IELTS score 

If you want to study programs in the English language in Korea, then you must take an IELTS class. Most Universities demand a 5.5 score in IELTS for the Bachelor's program whereas, for the Masters's program, you need to acquire 6 scores in IELTS.3

      3. Academic Documents 

  • Mark sheet and Character certificate of School level 
  • Mark sheet and Character certificate of intermediate level 
  • Mark sheet and Character certificate of Bachelor level (for Masters program) 
  • Provisional Certificate 

    4. A bank balance statement in the name of the student with complete access only by the student 

    5. CV 

    6. SOP 

    7. No Objection Letter 

    8. Birth certificate 

    9. Property Evaluation 

After you submit these documents to the Korean embassy, they will check all the documents and evaluate their originality. If documents are insufficient or forged, then the embassy will reject your application. 

After the successful completion of your program in South Korea, you are eligible to work full-time. Now, you can apply for a D-10 Visa. A D-10 Visa is a job-seekers visa that is valid for six months after graduation. During this period, you can search for work opportunities and choose the best job for yourself in South Korea.
